Another Empty Jersey

I'm haunted by village gyms

gone dark, the echo of a

bouncing ball

a tournament of teams

empty jerseys floating

whispers of invisible shoes

on the shining floors

there is no win count

only loss, upon loss

the score ticking up

as time counts down

for us all

with life the last big game
